Steamboat Springs was the top 4th of July destination for Ski Town USA beat out other top Colorado resorts such as Aspen, Breckenridge, Telluride and Vail.
"The Fourth is always a gauge of how summer is going. And, as you can see, it's going very well in Colorado," AAA spokeswoman Alexa Gromko said.
The association analyzes travel booking made by its 480,000 Colorado members to rank in-state destinations, Gromko said. Last year, Steamboat ranked sixth behind mountain destinations such as Durango and Glenwood Springs.
"Steamboat is always a popular destination," Gromko said. "People go there specifically because they love Steamboat, and it has some specific and unique attractions." A professional rodeo, a cattle drive through downtown, tubing the Yampa River, outdoor concerts and an alpine slide are just some of the activities you can't just find anywhere.
Perhaps the near record breaking snowfall Steamboat experienced last winter has gotten the attention of Coloradans and all visitors alike. The beautiful summer weather, the lush and green Yampa Valley, and the signature local hospitality keep Steamboat near the top year after year.
