The Alpenglow Building will be a three story building to be constructed on the site of the former Nite's Rest Motel. The building will consist of 6500 square feet of retail area on the ground level and an employee housing unit of 1042 square feet. The 2000+ square feet of common area will be dedicated to a dramatic atrium entry at the middle of the building off 6th street. This entry will access the lower level parking garage and the second floor residential area. Eight residential units will be constructed on the second and third floors ranging in size from 1196 square feet to 1800 square feet. Two of the units will be single story flats at the front of the building and the balance will be two story town homes. Each front unit will feature covered/enclosed porch areas at the east end of the building looking out over Lincoln Ave. The units to the west will have open decks looking up at Howelsen Hill.
Because of the visual access to the entire site from south to north, the intent is to create a very strong architectural element at the corner of the building so that it is easily identifiable from the south. Use of native quarried stone and brick will be complimented by tasteful detail elements at the tops of columns and above windows. The parapet wall at the top of the second story and the set backs of the third story portion will nearly screen that portion from view at street level. The building transitions from the commercial façade of Lincoln Avenue to a more traditional residential façade at the back of the building. The rear of the building looking out at Howelsen will create a residential streetscape along the alley way to mirror the residential units detailed below.
